PENDLETON - Round-Up Princess Jessi Wells is in fair condition at St. Anthony Hospital after suffering broken ribs in a fall from her horse during the ride-in at Thursday's rodeo.

Staci Bu- chanan, communications director for the hospital, said Friday morning that Wells was conscious and alert but sore. Wells broke some ribs and suffered blunt trauma to the right side of her abdomen and liver after she was propelled into a fence when the horse turned quickly to keep from running into the fence.

Doctors are running more tests to determine the extent of her injuries.

While Wells is eager to ride in Saturday's grand entry, Buchanan said, doctors insist she remain in bed.

Round-Up Court Director Randy Severe said Wells' message to him, her fellow court members and the other directors was, "Please get me out of here (the hospital)."
