Wildhorse Resort & Casino has partnered with the Eastern Oregon Regional Airport marketing committee to help administer a federal grant.

The committee will meet with Wildhorse advertising manager Diane Long on Wednesday to flesh out how to combine marketing efforts and propose a plan to the Airport Commission at its May 8 meeting.

“I don’t see us giving money to Wildhorse per se — I see us working in concert to what they are doing,” said airport commission and marketing committee member Mike Thorne. “This is a case where they do theirs and we do ours and we can see where it could line up and fit.”

The marketing committee can help Wildhorse attract more customers by adding more Pendleton attractions to its marketing message, Long said.

“We want travelers to come in and stay with us,” she said. “People (who) come in and game don’t do it 24/7 — they go into town, they shop, they dine.”

Wildhorse recently partnered with SeaPort Airlines, which provides commercial flights between Portland and Pendleton, to market a discounted deal that allows people to book a Wildhorse hotel room and round-trip plane tickets on one reservation.
