Artists are invited to submit works that include painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, fiber arts and book arts for the Open Regional art exhibit.

Photography is the only medium not accepted for the show, which runs Thursday, May 2, through Friday, June 28, at Pendleton Center for the Arts, 214 N. Main St.

The Open Regional exhibit has been sponsored by the Arts Council of Pendleton for more than 35 years. Every other year, the medium is photography.

Cash prizes will be given in adult and teen divisions, as well as a people’s choice award based on voting from visitors during the show. Also, the Krazy Horse Quilters donated money for a pair of special cash awards that will be presented to artists whose work features textiles as an art medium.

Artwork must be submitted Saturday, April 27 between 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Arts Center. Each artist can enter two pieces of work. The per item entry fee is $10 for adults and $5 for teens.

The sale of artist’s work is encouraged, but not required. A 30 percent commission will be deducted from all sales.

Susan Murrell, associate professor of art at Eastern Oregon University, will judge this year’s event. She will participate in a judge’s critique during the opening reception Thursday, May 2 from 5-7 p.m.

The Arts Center offers studio space for artists who need a place to complete their creations. Call 541-278-9201 to schedule session times. Entry forms and guidelines for submissions are available at the Arts Center or www.pendletonarts.org.
