MOLALLA - A 5-year-old boy pulled from the Molalla River has died at a Portland hospital.

Detective Jim Strovink of the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office identified the child Tuesday as Markian Barsukoff of Alberta, Canada. The boy was in Oregon to attend a wedding and family reunion. He was playing with other children in knee-deep water before he went missing.

Strovink says an aunt searching for the boy Monday night discovered him in the middle of the river.

He says child might have been submerged for up to 10 minutes.
