Ag agencies celebrate new residence

PENDLETON - The Umatilla County Soil and Water Conservation District, along with federal and state Departments of Agriculture, are holding an open house from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today.

The event started with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and will last through the afternoon at the John Murray Building, 200 S.E. Hailey Ave.

The Natural Resources Conservation Service, the Farm Service Agency, Rural Development, the Columbia-Blue Mountain Resource Conservation and Development Council, the Oregon Department of Agriculture and the SWCD relocated to the former school last fall.

Morrow County to address road plan

BOARDMAN - The Morrow County Road Committee will discuss its 25-year plan, along with funding issues at 7 p.m. tonight at the Port of Morrow Building, 2 Marine Drive, in Boardman.

"We'll be discussing our funding situation and our road plan and come to a consensus on that," said Burke O'Brien, Morrow County Public Works director.

O'Brien said generally there's not a lot of audience attendance, however, the public is always welcome.

"We just have to finalize some plans for what we're going to do," O'Brien said.

In May, the county's voters defeated a $10 million road levy that would have provided funds to repair nearly 26 miles of roads throughout Morrow County.
