PILOT ROCK - A slip of the foot sent a pickup through the front wall of Main Street Antiques and Cafe shop in Pilot Rock on Saturday afternoon.
"It was about 2 p.m. I know because I was about to go on lunch break and someone hollered. I ran out and the pickup was sitting clear inside the building," said Vickie Vaughn, a clerk at the Pilot Rock market.
"It sounded like something scraped on the cement," said Tracey Drake, of Drake's video store.
Susie Moore was the driver. Witnesses relayed she thought she had her foot on the brake when she actually hit the gas pedal as she pulled in to the parking space. Moore was not hurt.
The accident shattered a large window and damaged a brick wall. Cafe owner Linda Hetterley looked on as workers scooped up shattered glass with a shovel.
"We were so lucky no one was hurt," Hetterley said. "There are usually always people in this middle area of the store, but this time only customers across the way and in the restaurant. Thankfully everyone kept their heads and no one moved."
Hetterley said the restaurant is closed for a few days until she and her husband meet with their landlord, Frank Mitchell. The accident caused an unspecified amount of damage. The pickup ran over several antique pieces of furniture and glassware.
