If you’re looking for something new during the holiday season, the Portland Spirit invites you to come aboard and enjoy a holiday on the water.

There’s plenty of room on the Cinnamon Bear cruises and weekday Christmas Ships cruises (and limited weekend dates). Also, it’s not too late to book Christmas Day buffet cruises or the New Year’s Eve Party Cruise.

Be the guests of honor during a two-hour Cinnamon Bear Cruise. Passengers will enjoy a light snack holiday buffet while a cast of characters entertain with storytelling, music and magic.

It will be a holiday to remember for the kids when they have their picture taken with the Cinnamon Bear atop his magical throne. The cost is $30 for adults, $22 for children ages 1-12 and free for those under 1.

Christmas Ships Cruises

In its 59th year, the Christmas Ship Parade includes the Columbia and Willamette rivers. The brightly lit vessels twinkle and reflect off the river for a light show on water.

For the Christmas Ships Cruises, passengers can take a dinner cruise with front row seats for the parade on water or Explorer rides as part of the parade. The boardings begin continue through Saturday, Dec. 21.

The 2½-hour dinner cruises feature a three-course meal, coffee and hot tea, live entertainment and enclosed, climate-controlled decks. Ships available include the Willamette Star, the Columbia Gorge Sternwheeler and the Portland Spirit. The cost is $68 for adults or $63 for seniors and children.

The Explorer “Sleigh Rides on the Water” are 1½-hour cruises that include hot chocolate, cookies and plenty of blankets to stay warm. The cost is $36 per person.

Holiday cruises

Experience a lavish traditional holiday buffet with piano entertainment aboard a luxurious yacht on Christmas Day. Bring the whole family for the 2½-hour cruise on the Willamette River, highlighting the beautiful scenery of Portland. Passengers can choose from early or late boardings. The cost is $66 for adults, $61 for seniors and $20 for children ages 4-12.

Ring in the New Year in style aboard the New Year’s Eve Party Cruise. Enjoy the hot jazz and vintage pop sounds of the Midnight Serenaders, champagne, light hors d’oeuvres and a boarding photo. The 21-and-over 3-hour cruise costs $100 per person.

Verify the boarding location at either Salmon Street Springs Fountain or Caruthers Landing, both in Portland. For more information or to book cruises, go to www.portlandspirit.com or 503-224-3900.
