CHARLESTON - Oregon crabbers are hauling in sizable catches despite earlier concerns the year would be a bust after the disappointing start to Central California's crab season.

Some Oregon fisherman were catching about 20 pounds, some even 80.

Many smaller boats weren't able to head out early this week after bad weather kicked up Sunday night and early morning, driving seas to about 16 feet, according to the National Weather Service.

The season was off to an ominous start when two people died Friday after a crab boat capsized near Garibaldi and broke in two on the jetty.
