BOARDMAN - Workers for a Morrow County Dairy were picketing for higher wages Thursday night and early Friday morning.

At about 6 p.m. Thursday, about 50 people on foot and in vehicles were striking at the gate entrance of Columbia River Dairy, 66653 Tower Road.

Police were called because of a report that the picketers were blocking the traffic in and out of the dairy, and were trespassing.

At 2:45 a.m. Friday, workers were again asked by police to move their operations off the property and out of the entrance area to the farm and they complied.

"So far it's been peaceful, and we haven't had any major problems," said Morrow County Sheriff Verlin Denton. "The strikers have been cooperative with us, in following our requests."
