HERMISTON?- The Hermiston School District recently received the Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting, given by the Government Financial Officers Association of the United States and Canada, the district announced Friday. The award was given for the district's comprehensive annual financial report.

The Certificate of Achievement is considered the highest form of recognition for financial reporting, according to the district.

The award will be presented at the next school board meeting on Sept. 1. Jim Thompson, who retired as Hermiston's business manager last spring, will also be honored.

The meeting will happen in room 24 of Armand Larive Middle School, located at 199 E. Ridgeway Ave. in Hermiston.
