CANYONVILLE - Police used spike strips to stop a Glendale woman who drove about 20 miles the wrong way on Interstate 5 between Glendale and Canyonville after an accident near the Douglas-Josephine county line.

State Police got the report of the northbound vehicle early Saturday morning.

The driver, identified as 35-year-old Karena Grim, continued for about two miles after hitting the spike strips then fled into nearby brush and hid.

A man police said was a passenger apparently injured in the accident was found beside her abandoned car.

Grim was taken to a Roseburg hospital for treatment. Police said she will be charged with drunken driving, reckless driving, reckless endangerment and assault.
