HERMISTON — Police are trying to track down the driver who fled after crashing into Eastern Oregon Mobile Slaughter early Sunday.

A dark Dodge Durango at about 1:15 a.m. smashed through the side of the business at 235 W. Hermiston Ave., Hermiston. The sport utility vehicle drove over a concrete parking stop and plowed through a cinder block wall. Police Chief Jason Edmiston reported a witness saw a Hispanic male run from the crash.

Officers searched but were not able to find the driver, according to a written statement from Edmiston. Police seized items from the vehicle that provided a name, he added, and a detective later obtained statements about who may have been behind the wheel.

Edmiston also said police impounded the Durango and placed a hold on it, and the investigation was ongoing.
