Winter returned overnight with up to five inches of snow in Eastern Oregon, creating slick driving conditions Thursday morning.

The Oregon Department of Transportation's TripCheck reported blowing, drifting snow with whiteout conditions on Highway 204 at Tollgate and five inches of packed snow on Interstate 84 at Meacham at 7 a.m.

Several cars were off the road on Highway 11 north of Weston after several inches of slushy snow made driving treacherous.

Temperatures ranged from 20 at Meacham to 31 in Pendleton, according to TripCheck.
