MORO - On Monday morning, searchers on the John Day River recovered the body of Michael Jon Simantel, a 16-year-old boy from Wasco who drowned last week, about two miles downstream from the Bureau of Land Management's Cottonwood Park.

The teen was reported missing Thursday afternoon, after he and several friends went swimming in the fast-flowing river between Wasco and Condon.
