HILLSBORO - A Hillsboro Fire Department spokesman says two men escaped injury Friday night when their small helicopter made a hard landing a quarter mile south of the Hillsboro Airport. Responding firefighters found a Robinson R22 on its side.

Spokesman Storm Smith says the 29-year-old pilot said he was losing power as he approached the airport and tried to make an emergency landing in a field. The helicopter hit hard and flipped onto its left side. Both he and his 45-year-old passenger
