Fire and Ambulance Department promotes Baty to firefighter

Alex Baty

The Pendleton Fire and Ambulance Department announced the promotion of paramedic Alex Baty to paramedic/firefighter in a press release Friday.

The release states that the promotion fills a lifelong dream of Baty’s to follow in the footsteps of his father, department Capt. Dave Baty.

Baty joined the department in 2010 as a reserve firefighter and EMT and was hired on full-time as a paramedic in 2015.

Baty has an associate’s degree in fire science from Portland Community College and an associate’s degree in emergency medical services from Umpqua Community College in Roseburg.

Baty’s first day as a firefighter will be Feb. 1.
