BAKER?CITY - The U.S. Forest Service will begin an online auction Thursday for eight vehicles and a forklift.

The Wallowa-Whitman National Forest owned the equipment - two sport utility vehicles, six pickups and the forklift. Bidding will start Thursday at 5 p.m. and continue through Aug. 27.

The auction items will be available for inspection at the Forest Service compound at 3285 11th St. in Baker City. Potential buyers, however, won't be allowed to start the vehicles for safety reasons, according to the Forest Service.

Prospective bidders can register at www.gsaauctions.gov.
