Presentations by cancer survivors and those who provide services for the SPIRIT Program will be featured during the Kick’n Cancer Celebration of Life Western Gala. The SPIRIT Program, part of the Cancer Community Renewal Project, includes exercise, massage and yoga for cancer survivors.

The fundraising gala is Saturday from 6-11 p.m. at the Pendleton Convention Center, 1601 Westgate.

The evening will begin with wine-tasting and microbrews. A four-course dinner including either prime rib or salmon will begin at 6:30 p.m. The event also features a raffle and silent and live auctions.

Raffle tickets for a 42-inch TV?are $5 each and tickets for a Nikon Coolpix digital camera are $1 each. In addition, balloons tied to wine bottles will be popped to reveal winning numbers for a prize and the bottle of wine. Tickets for the balloon pop are $30 each.

Auction items include a weekend bed and breakfast package with white water rafting in Riggins, Idaho, a Weber grill, a poster from the Centennial Pendleton Round-up, jewelry and pantings.

Money raised from the event is used to pay for cancer patients to participate in the SPIRIT Program.

The event, which began in 2000, started as a fashion show with a few auction items.

“Over the years it has progressed and grown in size,” said Herb Bitting, one of the event’s organizers. “If we could raise more money we could expand what we do for all cancer survivors.”

Tickets are $40 at the door or $35 in advance at Pendleton Woolen Mills, Hamley locations, CK South Salon, D&B Supply, Marla June’s, PGG, Club 24, Pendleton Southgate Realty, the Pendleton Chamber of Commerce and from gala volunteers. For more information, call Bitting at 541-276-6312.
