More than 30 steers from nine counties participated in the fourth annual NW Farm Supply Jackpot Steer Show June 19.

Blake Bartels, 12, of Prineville showed the grand champion steer. Jessica Schmidt of Othello, Wash., showed the reserve grand champion.

Brett Harrison of Lexington exhibited the third-place winner. Makenzi Hughes of Heppner showed No. 4 and the entry by Luke Coomer of Baker City placed fifth.

Blake Bartels also won junior showmanship. Second was Shelby Swindlehurst of Hermiston. Brady Linnell of Hermiston placed third.

In senior showmanship, Luke Coomer placed first. Jessica Hughes of Heppner finished second and Brett Harrison third.

Tyler Gray of Prosser, Wash., judged the competition.

NW Farm Supply of Hermiston has put on the jackpot annually in June for four years. It helps prepare 4-H and FFA youth and their steers for the county fairs. Last year, the top five steers at the jackpot event were grand or reserve grand champions at their county fairs.
