PENDLETON - Amateur radio operators, or hams, will operate their radios for "2008 SKYWARN Recognition Day" from 4 p.m. today through 4 p.m. Saturday at the Pendleton National Weather Service Weather Forecast Office at the Eastern Oregon Regional Airport.

Hams will operate their amateur radio stations to see how many special event stations at NWS offices they can contact. A total of 108 NWS offices will participate. The event also allows hams to practice radio skills for emergency communications.
