HERMISTON — Hermiston Police Chief Daniel Coulombe has applied for the job of police chief in Olympia, Wash.

The Olympian reported Coulombe is among five finalists for the position. Coulombe and the other candidates will tour the city today. On Thursday, they will begin interviews in front of three panels; city executive staff, police and community representatives. The city also will hold an open house for the candidates to meet with the public.

The city chose the final candidates from 76 applicants. Olympia City Manager Steve Hall said he expects to pick the new police chief later this month.
