HERMISTON — Hermiston Police Chief Jason Edmiston announced the promotion of Travis Eynon from Sergeant to Administrative Lieutenant Monday night.

The promotion became effective July 1. Eynon has been with the department since 2004 and was promoted to sergeant in 2010, Edmiston said. Eynon is in charge of dispatch, the four detectives and the crime prevention officer.

Prior to working for the Hermiston Police Department, Eynon served as the Umatilla Police Chief from 1994 to 2004.

City council also voted unanimously to appoint seven members to the Business Advisory Committee and fill an empty seat on the Hispanic Advisory Committee.

Business Advisory Committee members include Joe Thompson, owner of Eastside Market, Roe Gardner, owner of RoeMark’s clothing store, Karen Hutchinson-Talaski, Umatilla Chamber of Commerce executive director, Debbie Pedro, Hermiston Chamber of Commerce executive director, Steve Williams of U.S. Bank, Jason Graybeal, president of Ferranti-Graybeal Insurance and Dennis Barnett, owner of Barnett & Moro accounting firm.

The Hispanic Advisory Committee had an empty seat to fill following Jerry Trujillo’s resignation in June. Bryan Medelez was the only applicant. Councilman George Anderson said even though Medelez hasn’t been on the committee, he has been involved from the beginning. He is the operations manager at Medelez Trucking in Hermiston.
