HERMISTON Drivers can expect further delays on Highway 730 about three miles south of the Oregon-Washington state line as crews continue to repair the adjacent railroad track following last weeks train derailment.
Thirteen empty train cars derailed early Aug. 1, five of which slid into the Columbia River. Nothing was spilled and the cars have since been removed. Union Pacific officials continue to investigate what caused the wreck.
Flaggers will direct traffic through the construction zone, with single lane closures from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. All oversize loads will be accommodated, but delays of up to 20 minutes can be expected.
Repairs should be finished by Aug. 22, according to the Oregon Department of Transportation.
