SALEM - The Oregon House voted 57-0 Thursday to make it a sex crime to propel "a dangerous substance" at another person.

The substances defined in House Bill 2478 are blood, feces, semen and urine. The legislation follows an incident last year in which a woman was hit with semen while shopping at Target with her 3-year-old child.

A Gladstone man was convicted of assault, but Rep. Scott Bruun of West Linn contends it should have been sexual assault.

The bill now goes to Gov. Ted Kulongoski.
