PENDLETON — The Pendleton School Board unanimously accepted Chuck Jenson’s resignation Monday night at a meeting.

Superintendent Jon Peterson said the district had already received Jenson’s resignation letter and was starting the process of finding a replacement. The reason for his departure wasn’t discussed during the meeting and Jenson wasn’t in attendance.

Jenson said after the meeting the time felt right to move on.

“I’ve been there for 12 years and I just felt that it was time to pass the fun on to someone else,” he said.

Jenson felt the timing of his resignation will allow the board enough time to train his replacement before elections next year.

According to a press release, the district is accepting applications for the vacated seat through the end of the month.

Board members will interview candidates during the second week of July and are expected to appoint a replacement at their July 14 meeting.
