HERMISTON — Joshua Lankford, a Heppner High School graduate and registered professional engineer, has been promoted to engineering manager at Umatilla Electric Cooperative.
Lankford succeeds Robert Echenrode, who took over as general manager and CEO for the co-op earlier this year.
Lankford joined UEC in 2009 as a distribution engineer, and will now lead a team of 10 employees in charge of servicing their 2,300-mile distribution and transmission system. UEC continues to expand and upgrade its infrastructure to accommodate a 70 percent growth in sales over the last five years. Planning is also underway for a new substation in east Hermiston.
Lankford has a master’s degree in engineering from Gonzaga University, and in May he completed the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association’s Management Internship Program at the University of Wisconsin. He lives near Lexington with his wife, Kaley.
UEC serves 10,000 members in northeast Oregon, including Umatilla, Morrow and Union counties.
