HERMISTON - Power outages hit Hermiston Energy Services customers and Umatilla Electric Cooperative members in parts of Hermiston, Stanfield and Hat Rock Friday.

Nate Rivera, the co-op's community relations representa- tive, said lightning struck a transmission pole on Tabor Road at 5:17 p.m., affecting 136 accounts.

A second power failure occurred at 7:20 p.m. when Bonneville Power Administration's transmission feeder line's relay switch opened, affecting five substations and 1,770 co-op members and 1,766 Hermiston Electric customers.
