HERMISTON - Associated Grocers, the grocery wholesale cooperative with member stores in Hermiston, Umatilla and Heppner, announced earlier this week it was donating $25,000 to the American Red Cross to help people in Southeast Asia rebuild the tsunami devastated region.

"Because it's a co-op, when Associated Grocers donates for something, it's really coming from the store owners," said Bob Hutchins, corporate communications manager.

"It's a good opportunity for all of us to show that we care," said Dave Meade, manager of the Columbia Red Apple in Umatilla.

The Hermiston Market and the Central Red Apple in Heppner are also Associated Grocers stores.
