Man falls into Milton-Freewater dump

Emergency workers and others helped a man Saturday after he fell into the dump near Milton-Freewater.

The East Umatilla County Rural Fire Protection District reported the 59-year-old man lost his footing around 10:30 a.m. at the open dump at Humbert Refuse and Recycling, 54841 Highway 332, Milton-Freewater.

“He fell several stories from his truck to the bottom of the dump,” according to the statement from the fire district. “Several medics, firefighters and a couple of civilians came to the aid and moved the person.”

The district also reported the man was conscious the whole time, and a helicopter ambulance flew him to an area hospital.
