MEACHAM - A record 1.17 inches of rain fell Sunday at Meacham.

It was more than double the .52 inches recorded on Aug. 22, 2000, which had been the record for the day. Weather records at Meacham date to 1948.

Just .27 inches were recorded Sunday at the National Weather Service Station near the Eastern Oregon Regional Airport. That brought the total for the month to .57 inches. So far this year 10.42 inches have been recorded at the weather station, up 2.57 from the normal 7.85 inches at this time. For the crop year, beginning Oct. 1, the weather station has recorded 14.55 inches of rain, up 2.60 inches from the normal 11.95 inches.

Sunday's rainfall for downtown Pendleton, Hermiston and other area communities was not available this morning.
