PORTLAND - U.S. Senator-elect Jeff Merkley will discuss last week's election and the new generation of leadership in America Monday and Tuesday with Oregonians in Eugene, Medford, Bend and La Grande.

Merkley, a Democrat who defeated two-term incumbent Republican Sen. Gordon Smith, will call on all citizens to come together, shed old rivalries, and address the needs of working families.

He will speak Monday at the Erb Memorial Union at the University of Oregon at 11 a.m. and at the Rogue Community-Higher Education Center in Medford at 3:30 p.m.

On Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. he will speak at the Riverhouse Conference Center in Bend and at 4 p.m. at the Union County Senior Center in La Grande.
