MORROW COUNTY - The Morrow County School District will host two meetings to inform community members about the 2009-2010 budget and its proposed serial levy.

The school board agreed to place a special levy before voters in the May 19 election. If passed, it will raise just over $500,000 per year for three years.

Homeowners would officially pay $1 per thousand of assessed value; however, because of the way taxes are calculated, they would actually pay somewhat less. A tax payer that has a home assessed at $50,000 would pay about $40 per year.

Those with a home assessed at $100,000 would pay about $70, and those with a home assessed at $150,000 would pay about $110 per year.

The first meeting is Saturday at 10 a.m. at Riverside High School's library. The second meeting is Saturday, April 11 at 10 a.m. at A.C. Houghton Elementary School's library.
