A home invasion has left a mother and her children traumatized after three men entered their home early Sunday morning.
According to the Hermiston Police log, between 12:30 to 2:30 a.m., a woman reported that three men entered her home on East Walls Road, hit her with a belt and tied her hands and feet. The trio allegedly tied her two-year-old son's hands and put him in the trunk of her car. Two of the men supposedly had guns.
Umatilla County Sheriff John Trumbo said the suspects were wearing black clothing, ski masks and gloves. Even their shoes were covered, he said.
At this point, deputies have no idea why this occurred, although Trumbo suspects is it drug-related.
"It has all the clear earmarks that they're sending a message" that the residents owe money for drugs or owe someone drugs, Trumbo said.
Trumbo said he has no reason to think this was a random act.
