New Hermiston city manager signs two-year contract

All of the pieces are officially in place for Hermiston’s transition to a new city manager.

The city council unanimously approved a two-year contract Monday with Byron Smith. Smith had already signed the agreement, which includes a start date of Aug. 25. Current city manager Ed Brookshier will be kept on retainer to advise Smith until the end of 2014.
