The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife will close sturgeon retention at 12:01 a.m., March 26 on the Columbia River and tributaries from the John Day Dam upstream to McNary Dam. The closure will last until the end of the year.

Catch-and-release of sturgeon is allowed through the rest of the year, except from May 1 to July 31, at Highway 82 bridge to protect oversize spawning sturgeon.
