PENDLETON - AquaCare+, a store specializing in exotic tropical fish, aquariums and supplies, has moved to 29 S.W. Dorion Ave.

Scott and Sonda Herbert, who started an aquarium-cleaning business more than a year ago, expanded to become a fish and supplies retailer early this year on Southwest Sixth Street. Outgrowing that space in the past seven months prompted the move to Dorion.

"We're really excited about the move," Sonda said. "It gives us a lot more room."

Scott, pointing out a Turushuqui from Peru, said, "I try really, really hard to find really exotic tropicals. We try to carry some of the very rare cichlids from Africa."

Sonda added, "We order every week, and try to get something that we didn't have."

Scott said his customers often find something rare or unusual in the store.

"In fact, Thursday we've got a real sting ray coming," he said, describing the critter as a teacup ray, about 4 inches across.

The Herberts say they are amazed at their store's popularity and growth. A fish enthusiast since he was a child, he said, "It's one of those things - everybody keeps asking you for advice - you might as well do it for a living."
