MILTON-FREEWATER - The Oregon Department of Transportation is inviting the public to attend an open house forum from 5-7:30 p.m. Thursday to discuss the master plan being developed for the South Hill neighborhood.

Mitchell Nelson Group and CTS Engineers will be conducting the open house in the Albee Room of the Public Library. The two firms have been hired by ODOT to develop the master plan, which will focus on ways to link together the existing neighborhood with future development along Oregon Highway 11.

ODOT said the master plan will address the circulation along the highway and the local street system. It will also provide pedestrian walkways.

The open house is described as an informal, drop-in style meeting with the consultants available to discuss the existing and future conditions and answer questions about the preliminary master plan concepts. The community is invited to contribute ideas and concerns about the neighborhood's needs and the city's future growth in the area.

Those who are unable to attend but want to contribute their ideas and opinions should contact Joyce Jackson by mail at MNG, 2116 N.W. Wilson Street, Portland, OR 97210; by telephone at 503-225-0822 Ext. 5; or by e-mail at
