The Pendleton Animal Welfare Shelter, 517 S.E. Third Street, will host a benefit evening to raise money to finish building its new shelter.

The event is 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, with parking on the right side of the building.

A silent auction, wine tasting, hors dÂ’oeuvres and tours of the new facility will be available.

All auction purchases must be made via cash or check. Licensed master clockmaker Gary Kopperud will give a light-hearted presentation on the history and trivia of timepieces, and evaluate clocks and watches for attendees who donate a bag of cat or dog food.
