PENDLETON - Funding and planning for improving Barnhart and airport roads, and roads in the city's industrial park, are at the top of the Pendleton City Council's goals for 2005-06.
The council adopted the goals this week after a goal-setting session on March 31.
The council's other goals are:
Long-term financial planning.
Developing project priorities for the Urban Renewal District.
Funding for street repairs and utility infrastructure.
Expanding opportunities for youth, such as volunteering, mentoring education and a skateboard park.
Updating and organizing city ordinances for improved accessibility.
Creating positive conditions for economic development.
Supporting and overseeing community visioning.
Planning and implementing community technology improvements.
Financing cemetery improvements.
Supporting culture, including Vert Auditorium. improvements, volunteerism and the city's 125th birthday celebration on or before Oct. 25.
Expanding the urban growth boundary.
Working on neighborhood issues, including blight, animals and sanitation.
Developing an entertainment center.
Enhancing the city's gateways.
Extending and enhancing the River Parkway.
