PENDLETON — After extensively renovating what was once Hawthorne Alternative High School, the Pendleton School District is opening the Pendleton Early Learning Center to the public.

According to a district press release, the center will host two open houses Sept. 22 and Sept. 24, both from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

In addition to housing a centralized, full-day kindergarten, the center also rents space to various organizations with a stake in early childhood education like Umatilla-Morrow Head Start, the InterMountain Education Service District, WIC and the Umatilla County Health Department.

“We are really excited to show the Pendleton community this wonderful, new facility they made possible for our youngest learners,” Principal Lori Hale said. “We invite everyone to share in the celebration.”
