PHOENIX - Police are looking for the suspect in a homicide investigation of a former Pendleton man who died last month.
Police are asking for information on Charles Gallino, 30, of Phoenix. He is wanted in connection with the alleged homicide of Eric Evans, 41, formerly of Pendleton.
Phoenix Police Sgt. Joel Tranter said there is a person of interest the police have been interviewing, but Gallino is the only suspect and police are not looking for any others. Tranter also said Gallino has a criminal history and many ties to Phoenix, but also has contacts out of state. He is unsure if Gallino still is in the Phoenix area or if he has fled Arizona.
This turn in the investigation stems from an incident early last month.
On June 8, police found Eric Evans, 41, dead in his apartment in Phoenix.
The police were responding to a welfare call from someone else in the apartment complex who said they had not seen Evans in several days, said Tranter.
When police arrived, they found evidence outside the apartment which they said indicated foul play.
"A gun had been fired," Tranter said. "They made entry and found Mr. Evans deceased."
Evans' mother, Micki Murray, said in a previous interview her son had been living in Phoenix for the past year.
Phoenix police are asking anyone with information on the case or Gallino to call them at (602) 262-6141.
