Three Boise Cascade lumber facilities in Pilot Rock and the La Grande area are being sold to Woodgrain Millwork of Fruitland, Idaho, according to a company press release.

“Being a fully integrated company in each step of our supply chain has become one of our core strengths as a company,” Woodgrain CEO Kelly Dame said in a statement. “This is the next step in continuing our growth in the Lumber division of our company. The purchase of these three facilities fits in line with our long-term company strategy.”

Boise Cascade will retain its the plywood mill and powerhouse and log utilization center in Elgin.

Although she didn’t have a breakdown by location, Boise Cascade spokeswoman Lisa Chapman said the three facilities — lumber mills in Pilot Rock and La Grande and a particleboard operation in Island City — collectively employ 262 employees.

Woodgrain Marketing Director Tanner Dame said the facilities would continue to operate after the purchases were completed, but declined to comment as to whether anyone would be laid off once they were acquired.

Boise Cascade and Woodgrain did not disclose the details of the agreement and the deal is contingent on a two-month due diligence period.

“The sale to Woodgrain allows us to further focus on our veneer-based engineered wood products and plywood businesses,” Mike Brown, senior vice president of operations of Boise Cascade’s wood products division, said in a statement.

The press release states that Woodgrain specializes in manufacturing wood doors, mouldings and windows and operates 18 locations across the U.S.
