JOHN DAY - Electrical power was out for about an hour and a half this morning throughout John Day and Canyon City.

The cause had not been determined by press time, according to a representative at the John Day office of the Oregon Trail Electric Consumers Cooperative

Scott Mallory, editor of the Blue Mountain Eagle, John Day's weekly newspaper, said the outage occurred about 7:14 a.m. OTEC restored power to some customers by 8:45 a.m.

Mallory said the outage covered all of John Day and Canyon City and extended four miles east of town. Customers in Prairie City and Mount Vernon were not affected, he said.
