PENDLETON - Dr. Frank A. Erickson, a radiologist who owns and operates Starlight Imaging in Pendleton, has been appointed to the Oregon Board of Radiologic Technology.

Gov. Ted Kulongoski appointed Erickson to a three-year term as the only radiologist on the board. His term expires in April 2008. Board members may serve two three-year terms.

Erickson, who is a sole proprietor of a home-based business, serves clients in 10 states. He has been a daytime teleradiologist since 2000, interpreting all types of images sent to him via the Internet from more than 25 hospitals.

"This is an opportunity for me to do some public service," Erickson said. "Our job is to oversee the use of potentially harmful diagnostic efforts in a safe way."

Erickson has been a Pendleton resident for 10 years and formerly worked at St. Anthony Hospital. He has had his own business for the past five years. Licensed since 1986, Erickson has licenses to practice in Oregon, Washington, California, Alaska, Illinois, Kansas, Missouri, Tennessee, West Virginia and Wisconsin.
