PENDLETON - Round-Up Princess Jessi Wells is still plenty sore but she's back at school in Portland and recuperating from her Round-Up week fall.

Wells was released from St. Anthony Hospital Saturday morning and attended the final day of the rodeo. She suffered two broken ribs, a partially collapsed lung, internal bleeding and a bruised liver when she fell from her horse during the court ride-in Sept. 16.

"My parents brought me back to school on Sunday," Wells said from Pacific University in Forest Grove Thursday, "but I was too sore to go to classes Monday."

She continues to rest when not in class, take pain medication and recuperate. She is looking forward to her parents' visit Saturday to celebrate her birthday.

Wells collided with a fence when her horse failed to stop after jumping the rail during the grand entry. She was taken by ambulance to St. Anthony Hospital.

At first, the extent of the injuries were not known, Wells said, until a specialist evaluated her.

"There was some damage to my liver, but it will heal itself," she said. "It's hard to get up in the mornings because I'm so sore, but I'll be perfect by softball season."
