PENDLETON - The Pendleton School Board has appointed Bob Rosselle to fill the board position left vacant by Elizabeth Scheeler.

Scheeler resigned on the eve of the election in order to run Oregon Sen. Jeff Merkley's Pendleton office as his field representative. The next day, she won her third term on the board with 98 percent of the vote in an uncontested race.

Rosselle was one of two applicants for the position.

"He is a product of Pendleton schools," Keene said. "He was ASB president, active in FFA, Lantern Cup recipient and member of the National Honor Society."

Now, Keene said, Rosselle is coming into the system as a parent. Rosselle, the father of a first-grader who attends Washington Elementary School, will dive in to his new position immediately when he attends a retreat with the rest of the board today.

Rosselle will serve until June 30, 2011.
