MILTON-FREEWATER - In responses to cases of H1N1 swine flu in Umatilla County, the Milton-Freewater School District is working with the county public health department to keep kids healthy and safe.

The district said custodial staff are working to keep schools sanitized and clean and staff are encouraging students to wash their hands frequently, especially after they cough or sneeze.

The district also is working to teach kids not to share items like food and drink, watching for signs of flu symptoms and making sure sick kids stay at home.

Additional information is available at the district Web site, www.miltfree.k12.or.us, under the "H1N1 Flu Information" link on the left side of the page.
