HERMISTON — The Hermiston School District is hosting a celebration of life event for a popular teacher, Jan Nichols, who died Aug. 20 after a year-long battle with cancer. It will be Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Purple Gym at Hermiston High School, 600 S. First St.

Nichols, who died at age 57, taught in the district as an elementary, middle and high school teacher and librarian for 26 years. Participants at the celebration who wish to share a story or anecdote about Nichols must write it down and give it to lead high school secretary Dana Mercer as soon as possible.
