HALFWAY - A Joseph man lost his big toe to frostbite a month after a snowmobile trip near Clear Creek Cabin, north of Halfway.

Brennan Anderson, 18, became stranded while snowmobiling with family friend Sam Bowman, 50, for several days in January.

Bowman found shelter in a cabin while waiting for searchers, however Anderson was unable to find his was back to the cabin and camped out several nights in his snowmobile gear.

When searchers found him, Anderson was suffering severe hypothermia and frostbite and was taken to the hospital. Wallowa County residents have been following the teenager's recovery and contributing to his hospital bills.
