HERMISTON — The Umatilla County Major Crimes team determined a man who came to?Good Shepherd Medical Center Friday morning did not suffer a gunshot wound as initially reported.

Umatilla County District Attorney Dan Primus said Saturday the crimes team, headed by his office and the Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office, investigated the incident on Friday.

“The investigation determined what we were dealing with was an assault that did not involve a firearm,”?he said.

He said the victim has been identified, but Primus did not have the name at hand Saturday. He said the crime team is still investigating the incident.
